The Wolf

So, last Thursday was our Blue & Gold banquet for the scouts, and I'd been looking forward to going all week because I knew Scott was getting his Wolf badge, and advancing rank. However, it also turned out to be the day I was diagnosed with strep throat. *sigh* I really wanted to be there with Scottie when he got his award, though, because we've worked hard to get it. So, I decided to go.

Dinner was wonderful, despite the fact that I could hardly swallow, and even though the gym was packed with people and the heat was on, I was freezing! Wearing a heavy sweater and my down-filled coat. FR-EEZ-ING!!! And achy. But, the boys stayed occupied with dinner and with some crosswords/word find/clue game they had for everybody on the tables. Then it was time for the awards.

Scott was first and when he went to pin the wolf badge on my sweater, he was pleasantly surprised to see his bobcat badge already pinned on. He thought I had lost it, so was happy to see it on my sweater.

"The Kerchief Cheer"
(Basically, he throws the kerchief up in the air, and the audience claps until it hits the ground.)

A proud mom and dad with a happy scout.

Scottie and his Wolf badge

Of course, the Blue and Gold is also for 7-year olds that will be coming in to scouts, but B didn't know this, so when he was called up and introduced, he was very surprised, but happy. They even gave him his very first patch for his uniform because he attended that night. He was stoked.

Brandon took the two boys to the scout shop yesterday to get B a uniform and scout book, and to get Scott his new book and kerchief. B had on his uniform (obviously, without the patches), and he looked SO handsome! And, he is so excited for Scouts! He and Scottie were looking over their books this morning on the way to school planning things that need to be done to sign off their requirements. I've never been involved in scouting before, so this is fun to see them so excited about these things.

Keep up the good work, boys! I love you, both!

That is awesome! Salem is stoked to, but he wants to be a Scout so that he can go on the camps with his dad. I remember when I was younger always looking forward to getting older and now I just wish I weren't so old! LOL! Hope you get feeling better soon. P.s. Happy B-lated Bday Scottie!
