Cat-sitting and new nephew

So, my brother, Todd, called us on New Year's and asked if we would be willing to cat sit his kittens for them. They were in the process of moving to a different apartment, and the woman who was watching their cats decided to charge more than she had originally asked for. I talked to Brandon about it, and we decided to go ahead and do it.

So, we drove down to Layton to meet Todd and Rachel and pick up the cats - well, kittens. They are appx. 5 and 8 months old. The kitties were a bit nervous - which is understandable - but they did well. It took a few days for them to warm up to us and stop hiding under the couch, and it took even longer for Sly to warm up to them. After several hisses, chases, growls, and hair-raising, Sly finally managed to just tolerate them - but just barely.

Gavin wanted a bath before school one day, so I let him bathe while I cleaned the bathroom. Well, the kitties were curious about the bath water, but even more curious about the bubbles that were raising up out of the tub. They both got up on the edge of the tub and tried to pop the bubbles. Gavin & I had a good laugh at them!

Squeakers trying to get the bubbles
(As a side note here, you can tell where she gets her name from - she doesn't "meow" she squeaks. Literally.)

Doesn't she have beautiful markings?

I came home from Zumba one night to find some very hungry kittens

I want it, I want it. Please!! NOW!

We had them for a couple of weeks and had plans to drive down on a Sunday afternoon to take the cats back to my brother when we got a call from him saying that Rachel was in labor. So, we axed that plan, and waited to hear back from Todd. Rachel was in labor for a few hours and then had Cullen Hunter Goodrich.

We got to meet Cullen when we dropped the cats off at the end of the week. I keep thinking of Connor as my baby, but compared to Cullen, he's SO big. *sigh* They grow so fast.

He's so small

There's nothing like holding a newborn

Congrats, Todd & Rachel, on cute little Cullen. And thanks for sharing your kitties with us for a while. We really enjoyed having them here.

Renee I had no idea that Rachel had had her baby until I asked Lois about them last Monday. I miss having cats that will actually let you hold them and like it!
