Have you ever met somebody who you thought was just incredible? Who could make you smile even in your hardest times? Who loves you and your children unconditionally? Who has an incredibly strong testimony of the Gospel, and sets a great example of his devotion to that Gospel?
I'm sure we all do. My dad is one of those people. And, yesterday it was his birthday! My dad has always been Papa Bear to me. Or Daddy. There have been very few times that I've actually called him dad out loud. It's always Papa Bear or Daddy.

He was kind enough to let us play "Pin the clown nose on Grandpa" at our big family birthday party one year!
I can remember driving home with him from stake v-ball or b-ball games and just pouring my heart out to him. Or having him talk to me about how much he and my mom love me.
He was the one that taught me how to drive. My mom didn't like driving with the kids when they got their learner's permit. So, my dad took me with him to read water meters one time, and let me drive home from Roosevelt. He bought me a car for my 16th birthday, and then proceeded to rebuild it when I wrecked it a few months later.
He works incredibly hard. He was the fire chief for several years in Tridell. He's been the water master there for as long as I can remember, and he's still doing it. Tridell has the best tasting water, ever. When high water hits, he's almost constantly up at the water plant treating the dirty water that comes in from the run off, to make it clean and drinkable. He even has a mini-apartment there, so that if an emergency comes up, he can be right there to fix it.
He's incredible! He loves all of his grandkids, and loves to play and have fun with them. My boys love him. He has helped us with our new house - he wired the garage with lights and power, he built a clothesline for me, he's helped us paint the entryway . . . So, this post is for him. I love you, Daddy! I hope you had a very happy birthday!

how very sweet! happy bday to Renee's dad!
I enjoyed your post. Being related to someone doesn't necessarily mean that you know them very well. It was fun to get this inside peek into the life of my Uncle Jerry.
