Sleep . . . Part Deux

I took these tonight. My older boys are still weird sleepers!
Gavin, however, was perfectly normal . . . for once!

Have I mentioned that I love my boys??

Oh, the places you'll go . . . to sleep

My kids fall asleep in the weirdest places . . .
and in the weirdest positions!
Observe . . .

Such innocence

What?? We weren't doing anything!

Lady, be quiet, she's watching! Act like nothing's happening, and maybe she won't get suspicious!

Have I mentioned that I love my cats??

Newest Blanket & Cards

So, as mentioned in a previous post, I went to Taylorsville for a baby shower. As I normally do, I made a baby blanket that turned out really cute. At least I think so.

The inside - yellow with pink stars

The outside - pink plaid

I'm a little worried with this law that has passed. I was planning on making and selling these blankets on eBay, Craigslist . . . but with this law, everything that is homemade has to have everything from snaps to thread tested before-hand. I think it's going to hurt a lot of people who make homemade things to earn a little extra money. Like me. Do you know this law I'm talking about. If you have any insight about it, please share.

Speaking of selling these blankets, would you readers out there buy these? I've made one or two for some of you, so can you tell me this: If you were a consumer looking for a homemade blanket, would you buy one of mine? And for how much? I'm just curious, if I do sell them, how much I should charge for them. I don't want to overcharge, but I do need to at least break even, and I'd even like to make a profit. :)

Anyway, moving on, I've also started making homemade cards. I'm not that great at it, but I do have fun making them, and it's fun to come up with different ideas and try new things.

Christmas thank you's

This card was my first attempt - I think it turned out pretty good!

Gotta love those new jammies . . . er, coat

So a couple of weeks ago, I got Scottie a new coat. The puller on the zipper on his old one (got that?) broke off, and rather than take out the zipper and put a new one in, I decided just to get him a new one. He loves it so much, that this is how we found him that night after he'd gone to sleep:

Tumbling is oh so fun

Last fall Scott really wanted to do gymnastics. Unfortunately for him, it's REALLY expensive. So, we told him we couldn't do it. But, when we got the catalog for the spring semester of community ed. classes, we noticed that there were tumbling classes offered for 5 - 8 year olds. So, we signed Scott & B up.

They were both so excited to go! When we got there, they were talking big, and ready to show off, but when the teacher called them to the mat, B got really shy. He does this quite often - will tell you he's not afraid of doing anything, but when asked to get up in front of people, he REALLY hesitates. When he saw Scott run over to the mat, though, he quickly joined him.

They had a blast! They'll do this every Monday for 8 weeks. If they enjoy it enough, we'll sign them up again. Enjoy the pictures!

Leapfrog - look at that leap!

My handsome hubby!

Hmm, I wonder if they notice that I'm sneaking away

This looks fun

I'm hiding!

My silly kitties

King Sly

The kitties bought me a laser pointer for Christmas. Cats go NUTS over catnip, and lasers. Well, they got both. We've had so much fun watching these cats chase this little red dot around. Sly, at first, could care less. He'd just look at it, but he would pounce on Lady as she ran after the dot. He has finally warmed up to it, though, and can be seen pouncing upon it. We do have video of them, but I can't seem to get videos loaded on here. Hmm.

Anyway, they also love their catnip. They'll go chasing these little catnip mice all over the kitchen floor. It's funny to see them bat at the mouse, then chase it, and go sliding past it on the slick floor. They're funny kitties!

Where'd it go?

Ooh - I found it!!

Hey - quit moving

Aha!! I've got you now

Then, the other day, Sly was in the bathroom with me while I was doing my hair. I turned my hair dryer on, and since the door was closed (I didn't want to wake up Gavin), he hid behind the shower curtain. I had to get some pictures. It was so funny to see his little rump sticking out from under the shower curtain. :)

Ahh - it's scary - I think I'll hide

What?? I was scared

An awesome weekend

So, this past Saturday, I drove down to Taylorsville for a baby shower for a friend of mine, and when I got there, it was basically a reunion of most of my friends in our old ward! It was SO fun to visit and catch up. I laughed so hard, and my cheeks hurt from smiling and laughing by the time I left! It was so nice to get out, and I'm grateful to Brandon for giving me these chances! He's wonderful.

Then, on Sunday, I was busy!!! We had our own meetings in our ward, and I had just enough time to run home for lunch and then I had to go to Ward Conference in another ward (I'm in the St. Relief Society Presidency). As soon as the ward conference was over, I ran home and read/rested for an hour before I had to run to choir practice - I'm the pianist. Imagine that.

Then, I came home, we ate dinner, then ran out to my in-laws house. It was my mother-in-laws birthday, so we took her out some flowers and just visited. We ended up putting a movie on for the boys, while my in-laws and Brandon & I played pinochle. I've got the concept down, but occasionally it's still intimidating - especially since they've been playing most of their lives. Anyway, the very last hand was awesome. LaRean got a double family - which, if you don't know Pinochle - is quite rare! None of us had ever seen that before, so it was an awesome treat on LaRean's birthday for her to get that hand! Congrats!

Then, on Monday, of course, there was no school. So, Wayne, my father-in-law, invited me out to lunch. Just me and him. He's made it a standing offer that on those days when I'm just totally overwhelmed, I'm to call him and he'll take me out for lunch. I wasn't overwhelmed on Monday, but I went just the same. Just on a side note here - I have the most awesome in-laws, I'm quite certain. Anyway, we had lunch, and chatted, and it was just so nice to relax on this "date." Thanks again, Wayne! And Brandon for letting me go out with another man! ;)

Jesus is in the vent, Mom!!

So, a few weeks ago, we sat on a bench in church that was next to an air return vent. Gavin kept going over to the vent and saying, "Mom, Jesus is in the vent!" He repeated that over and over again before I could finally get him to listen to me telling him that saying that was kind of irreverant. I told him that we could feel His spirit, but that it was highly unlikely that Jesus was in the vent.

Fast forward to today. We sat on that same bench, when Braden says, "Hey, Mom! There's a picture of Jesus in the vent." So, I go look, and sure enough, there He is. (I'm assuming that some little child - probably mine, to be honest - put that picture in the vent and it will stay there for the rest of time!)

So, now I understand why Jesus is in the vent!

Before & After pic's of the boys room

Okay - here they are!! On Monday, we painted the trim. Then, on Tuesday, I started the "real" painting. I love brown and blue together, so I deviated from my original plan a bit, and painted the bottom half of the room the same chocolate brown as my entryway. Then, I painted a strip on the top half the blue that we had picked out . . .

. . . and I hated it!! The brown was too dark, and the blue was too bright, and they just didn't work well together. I felt kind of dumb, honestly, that I'd made such a mistake, but as Brandon, my mother-in-law, & my sister pointed out - you can repaint it!

This time, I did my original plan - the blue on the bottom and a tan on top. We used the same tan color that we used in Gavin's room. This way, their room are tied together, but are still separate.

The blue on these pictures is actually more blue than what the room is. The room is actually more of a teal blue or a turquoise blue. Anybody that knows me well, knows that this color is my favorite! I love how their room turned out!

I plan on buying some new comforters for them, as their current ones are falling apart. I'll also get some posters for their room - a Wall E one for Scott, and a Star Wars one for B. On the wall next to the bed, I'm also going to put some vinyl lettering up that says, "I love you for infinity." The boys and I started saying that when I would drop them off to school, and it has stuck!

So, drumroll, please . . . . . . . . Here are the pictures!! Enjoy!
Before (ignore the mess - we had pulled everything into the middle of the room so I could, well, paint!
Looking into the corner - plain, boring, blah, white

One more before picture

After!! Notice the doorknobs on the closet - the boys were thrilled with that!
